Suzette Sylvester. –

The funeral of Susette Sylvester, 48, the murdered Prisal teacher, is scheduled for Friday at her home in Priesal, Cova.

The suspect, a male relative, also 48, was kept in police custody.

Police were preparing a file on Thursday to send it to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for instructions. The suspect is working as a loan officer at Republic Bank’s Valsen branch.

A relative told Newsday that Sylvester’s body is expected to be home from 9:30 a.m., followed by cremation at Belgroves Funeral Home on Coffee Street, San Fernando.

A mother of two was beaten to death with a hammer before dawn on Monday at her home on the Mowlah Trace Extension.

An autopsy confirmed on Wednesday that she had died of severe trauma to the head.

Sylvester began teaching English and English literature at Bresal High School in 2016, after teaching at El Dorado West High School for 15 years.

Relatives reported to the police that the two quarreled heavily a few hours before the body was found.

On Wednesday, Sylvester’s 25-year-old daughter told Newsday that she had forgiven the suspect, adding that the family had been trying to focus « on the good things ». She pointed to both the victim and the suspect as role models.

Sylvester continues to be honored on social media.

The official Facebook page of El Dorado West High School, on Wednesday evening, posted a greeting that it said was from Headmaster Anne Marie Piersing.

She referred to Sylvester as the most beloved teacher, a living wire and a sparkling light in the life of the school and its students.

“It imitated the remarkable qualities of a well-organized and dedicated teacher.

Suzette had an innate, loving and gentle motherly behavior that made the students cling to her like a magnet. «

« Whenever she walked the aisles, there was sure to be a crowd of students stalking her for that final gesture of smile or confidence. »

The post said Sylvester would be forever remembered as a heroine teacher who was an excellent classmate and an amazing human being, who left an enormous imprint on those who interacted with her.
